Barcelona Art, Science and Technology Hub starts life

The Artech Hub will develop cross-cutting programmes to boost research, training, dissemination, knowledge transfer and production in fields such as art, science and technology.

The centre will use existing virtual environments and physical spaces such as creation centres, scientific infrastructures, research centres, companies, and art, science and technology events and festivals. Fira Barcelona, for instance, has made part of the Palau d’Alfons XIII available to the Artech Hub.

Barcelona Art, Science and Technology Hub, a joint effort

The Artech Hub is a cross-cutting initiative of shared governance, supported by Barcelona City Council, the Government of Catalonia and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.

The nine institutions behind the project are: Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC-Barcelona Tech), Fira de Barcelona, Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), Barcelona Tech City, Hangar, the New Art Foundation and the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST).
