Renew your wardrobe by exchanging clothes! The 'Renew your clothes' campaign is back in Barcelona, from 24 April to 28 May. This is an initiative to exchange the clothes you no longer use. The aim is to foster responsible consumerism and reduce waste, showcasing the second-hand market as the most sustainable option.
It’s time to change your wardrobe, and we often find a load of clothes that now don’t fit or that we don’t like any more.
If that is your case, you can give them to your friends or family, or take them along to one of the city’s Green Points. But this spring, you could also take them to one of the city’s exchange points, which are operating the ‘Renew your clothes’ campaign, an annual spring and autumn initiative that suggests exchanging items of clothing in good condition: leave what you don’t want and take away some items brought by other participants.
The spring edition of ‘Renew your clothes’ is taking place from 24 April to 28 May. It fosters conscientious consumerism while reducing waste, showcasing the second hand market as the most sustainable option.
How does it work?
It’s very simple: all you have to do is take your clothes along to any of the exchange points around Barcelona.
In exchange, you will receive some Renova coupons for the corresponding number of points: tee shirts and accessories, 1 point; shirts and lightweight jackets, 2 points; baby clothes (up to 24 months), 2 points; trousers, dresses, skirts, formal wear, suits, 3 points; large jackets and coats, 5 points.
You can then exchange those coupons for any clothes that take your fancy, at any point on the network.
For clothes collection, there is a maximum of ten 10 items (except for jackets and coats, where the limit is only two items). The clothes must be clean, without any holes, broken stitching or stains. Only clothing will be accepted, not shoes, underwear or household linen.
In exchange, you may take up to 10 items (except for jackets and coats, where the maximum number is two). The same limits apply to baby clothes. You cannot use Renoves coupons from previous editions.
This link takes you to a list of collection and exchange days and times for each point.
‘Renew your clothes’ is an initiative promoted by city organisations, associations and facilities, with the support of Barcelona City Council.
