A fibreglass horse called ‘Olímpic’ is going round Barcelona to commemorate the Olympics.

#BCNalgalop. Throughout the summer Olímpic, a fibreglass horse made by children, will be running round Barcelona to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

The activities to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games keep on coming. Boys and girls at the Virolai Grimm school, backed by the Barcelona Royal Polo Club and the Barcelona Institute of Sports, have created a fibreglass horse that symbolises the spirit and memories of the Olympic date of 1992. The horse, called ‘Olímpic’, will be going round different parts of Barcelona throughout the summer to take the sensations of the Games to the whole city.

In that sense, ‘Olímpic’ is the star of #BCNalgalop organised by Barcelona Equestrian Challenge (BECH). This initiative is part of the educational side to the BECH, trying to involve all the schools and children taking part in Pony Park at Parc de l’Oreneta. In fact, it is the BECH’s star event and its main goal is to introduce children aged 5 to 8 and their families to the world of horses . Also this year, Pony Park will be receiving more than 5,000 children from 90 schools in the Barcelona metropolitan area. All the interested schools take part in an annual draw to paint this unique horse.

‘Olímpic’ was introduced to the world in front of nearly 2,000 children at the end of the ‘Game of Games’, held at the Olympic Stadium. Now the horse has to visit Tibidabo, L’Illa Diagonal , the Jardinets del Palau Robert, the Pony Club Park de l’Oreneta and finally the Barcelona Royal Polo Club, coinciding with the CSIO Barcelona.

While this is all going on, you will be able to follow Olímpic’s adventures on the CSIO Barcelona and Barcelona Equestrian Challenge social media via the hashtag #bcnalgalop, where there will be competitions and other activities.
