Evening rowing for the 22nd City of Barcelona International Trophy
Rowing. There will be a hundred rowers at this evening competition in Port Vell, which will pay tribute to the Olympic rowers of Barcelona 1992.
The City of Barcelona International Rowing Trophy regatta will take place this Saturday 14 October, beginning at 8 pm. This evening competition will see around 100 rowers taking part in sprint heats with faster boats. It will also pay tribute to the Olympic rowers of Barcelona 1992.
The City of Barcelona International Rowing Trophy is a regatta designed to revive and preserve the rowing regattas held in the Port of Barcelona since over 120 years ago. It is gradually establishing its position as a benchmark for sport in the city, which combines the traditional English university style (Oxford vs. Cambridge) with promoting women’s rowing in the city.
The Reial Club Marítim de Barcelona hopes it will make the city more visible to Barcelona residents and tourists, because the fleet of boats are spread out on the Portal de la Pau plain and the regattas are held on the stretch of water along the Pont de la Rambla de Mar in a sprint with the fastest categories (4 scull women and 8+ men).
