Seu d’Urgell is also celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic and Paralympic Games
Barcelona 1992. The Parc Olímpic del Segre was one of the 1992 Barcelona Games’ most powerful facilities. An exhibition is being held at Seu d'Urgell to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Games.
The 1992 Barcelona Olympic and Paralympic Games were held at various venues. Some outside the city. To mark the event’s 25th anniversary celebrations, Barcelona has organised several activities. The Seu d’Urgell, the headquarters of the Olympic Games, has organised an event for this Thursday, 27 July to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The main event is an exhibition on the before, during and legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games at Seu d’Urgell, where the transformation can be seen which the area underwent following its flooding in 1982; the development of the Games when the slalom was included for the first time in the Olympic calendar and the legacy that this great event left in the capital of Urgell, centred above all on the Parc Olímpic del Segre and all the sports feats that had been achieved during those years, including two Olympic medals.
The exhibition officially opens on 27 July, at 8 pm and will be attended by, among others, Pere Miró, a current member of the executive board of the International Olympic Committee. This public event will also include a presentation of a book published for this anniversary which talks about the Parc Olímpic del Segre and the before, during and aftermath of the Games.
