The Fisiocrem Nose Race rounds off 2017 successfully!
Fun runs. Over 11,200 runners rounded off 2017 combining fun, good spirits and sport. Ilias Fifa and Marta Galimany were the quickest.
Over 11,200 people took part in the Fisiocrem Nose Race on the afternoon of 31 December, which once again proved to be a successful and festive sporting occasion in the city. The Commissioner for Sports, Marta Carranza, made sure to attend the last sports event of the year and was responsible for getting the run under way.
In the competitive section, the race was hotly disputed, with three runners completing the distance in under 29 minutes. Following a sprint finish, the winner in the men’s category was Ilias Fifa, with a time of 28 minutes 38 seconds. He was followed Carles Castillejo, in 28 minutes 45 seconds, and Mourad El Bannouri, in 28 minutes 49 seconds. This was the eighth time Barcelona’s Castillejo made the podium in his eight participations in the event. For his part, Fifa last ran the Nose Race two years ago and his win was a repeat of the victory he achieved on the previous occasion. In the women’s category, Marta Galimany took the honours, revalidating her win last year with an improved finishing time of 33 minutes 29 seconds. Second place was for Míriam Ortiz (33’48”) , who was followed in third place by Jekaterina Patjuk (34’20”).
As usual, many runners had a festive approach to the run, with fancy dress playing a significant role. There was even a runner who paid homage to the Barcelona ’92 Olympic Games, running the race in the uniform of the torch bearer and carrying a hand-made torch. The event actually rounded off the commemoration year for the 25th anniversary of the Barcelona ’92 Olympic Games and Paralympics.
