The La Teixonera - Vall d'Hebrón Municipal Sports Complex, 25 years on

Venues. 25 years ago, this sports complex hosted the archery competition for the Barcelona ‘92 Games, and today, football and rugby games can be seen there.

During the Barcelona ’92 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the La Teixonera – Vall d’Hebron Municipal Sports Complex was one of the epicentres of the competition. In fact, these facilities were built especially for the archery competition, and were use in both the Barcelona ’92 Olympic Games and the Paralympics Games. The Spanish delegation won a gold medal there for teams, a highly commendable yet unexpected achievement.

Today, 25 years later, the facility has seen a complete change in its appearance. From being an archery range, it has moved on to witness many football and rugby matches. The different clubs that practice either of these two sports make use of the facilities available at La Teixonera – Vall d’Hebron Sports Complex, including F.C Barcelona, whose rugby team trains and plays matches there.

In total, there are 8 clubs, two rugby and six football clubs, and almost 3,500 athletes who bring this sports complex to life, 365 days a year, a place that was, 25 years ago, the venue for the best Olympic Games in history.
