Visits to extensive livestock farms to connect producers with butchers and restaurateurs in Barcelona
With a view to promoting meat from extensive livestock farming and encouraging direct commercial relations, the City Council is organising visits to livestock farms and meetings between producers, butchers and restaurateurs.
Barcelona City Council, as part of the Comerç Verd programme, is organising a project to promote meat from extensive livestock farming and promote its sale with low food miles.
The first activity will consist of a visit to livestock farms in Montseny aimed at butchers in the city, to be held on 17 November. The second will visit two extensive livestock farms in Vallès Oriental, a space for networking and project presentations as well as a breakfast and lunch featuring local products, designed with restaurateurs in mind.
Schedule for the day in Montseny – session for butchers – 17 November
8.30 am – Pick-up for attendees in Barcelona and transfer to the meeting point before heading to Tagamanent: Fabra i Puig, Carrer San Andrés de Palomar, 08030, Barcelona
9.30 am – Arrival in Tagamanent (Tagamanent Town Hall, Plaça de la Vila, 0 S/N, 08593, Tagamanent)
09.30 – 11.15 am – Presentation of projects and initiatives

Presentation of the producer groups: brief presentation of the origin and history, number of members, main characteristics of the producers and the production model, main products supplied, joint marketing proposals or other ongoing projects. (ARAM, Ramats del Montseny and Association of Small Producers and Agro-Food Processors of Montseny)
Presentation of the Unaun brand, a project that promotes meat from extensive livestock farming and direct sales channels between farmers, establishments and consumers, guaranteeing fair prices and sustainability.
Presentation of the agroecological logistics project (La Diligència, agroecological transport cooperative and others to be confirmed)
11.15 am – 12.30 pm – Relationship dynamics: farmers and butchers. Guided and structured meetings to get to know producers and establishments, exchange needs, challenges and opportunities, and explore future collaborations.
12.30 – 1.30 pm – Lunch featuring local products
1.30 – 3.30 pm – Visit to the first Pius Muntanyà farm, extensive sheep farm
3.30 – 5.30 pm – Visit to the second farm. Casanova de Figarolas, extensive Angus cattle farm
5.30 – 6.30 pm – Return to Barcelona

9.15 am – Arrival in Granollers and traditional breakfast with local products , in the framework of the Queixalada

4.30 – 5.45 pm – Visit to an organic cattle and pig farm (Can Joans, Lliçà d’Amunt)
5.45 – 6.30 pm – Return to Barcelona
How to register
Participation is free, although space is limited. The initiative is aimed at meat professionals and restaurateurs interested in incorporating products of this type into their establishments.
The project forms part of the City Council’s commitment to strengthening local food networks and supporting a more sustainable and respectful livestock model.
