The City Council will award subsidies for young and emerging research projects 2022
Barcelona City Council, through Barcelona Science and Universities, will award subsidies for young and emerging research projects in 2022. The call, part of the Barcelona Science Plan 2020-2023, aims to support the young and emerging scientific fabric of the city, promoting their professional careers in Barcelona and strengthening emerging scientific research in areas related to health and well-being, the circular economy and climate action, and community organisation, democracy and participation.
The award ceremony will take place on 20 March at the Saló de Cent in the city of Barcelona, and a diploma will be presented to each Principal Investigator (PI) of the eighteen winning projects.
Endowed with 1,000,000 euros, the call granted a maximum amount of 60,000 euros to each winning project. In addition, it incorporated various measures aimed at promoting family reconciliation and equal opportunities, as well as a commitment to the incorporation of master’s and doctoral students, in order to promote excellence in scientific research and promote opportunities for people who are beginning their research career in our city, creating new lines of research.
At the same event, the results of the 15 projects awarded in the Scientific Research Awards on Urban Challenges in the City of Barcelona 2020, granted in 2020 in the framework of the Covid Funds, which are now completing their research, will also be presented. Fifteen videos have been prepared, one for each award-winning project, which will be available on the Barcelona Science and Universities website after the event.
