The podcaster scene is in effervescent ferment. The themes of these programmes are diverse and heterogeneous and, therefore, scientific content could not be missing. Radio Maconda, the Barcelona Libraries’ radio station, presents Molècules, Mireia Sala‘s scientific podcast. A programme of interviews with personalities from the world of science to bring it closer to the population, from the curious to the professional.

Molècules is a programme of conversations with guests from the world of science who divulge their work through books, going deeper into their research. Much of the interaction between Mireia Sala and the guest personality is related to everyday concepts and references to popular culture, such as television series or fiction books known all over the world.

Currently, there is a chapter published: The CSI effect and forensic genetics in the 21st century, a conversation with Gemma Marfany, professor of genetics, lecturer at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Barcelona and author of the book Why do we get old? Science’s answer to an age-old human concern, among others. The 30-minute episode deals with the theory of DNA, the possibilities of genetics and how police TV programmes influence the conception of forensic science.

In short, Molècules aims to awaken interest in scientific thought from an open point of view and to deal with fields as diverse as biology, mathematics and physics in a way that is understandable and interesting for everyone.
