The fourth edition of Música Z begins
07/01/2025 - 11:49 h
Jazz, alternative rock, electronic music, folk, classical music, flamenco... a wide variety of musical styles and languages.
On the thirteenth of January begins the fourth edition of Música Z, the programme of commented auditions that brings the talent of the students of Barcelona’s higher music schools to the whole city, and which on the twenty-eighth of March gives the last concert of 2025.
The cycle gives artists the opportunity to perform live in front of an audience, a fundamental part of the learning process and the acquisition of experience. It is also a unique opportunity for the public to meet future talents, as well as to discover a great diversity of musical styles and languages. Moreover, the fact that the sessions are commented on by the performers creates a space for reflection and knowledge that enriches the concert.
The Música Z circuit, which was born in 2022, is promoted through an initiative of the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona, the collaboration of the Escoles Superiors de Música de la ciutat and the Xarxa de Centres Cívics de Barcelona.
As in the previous edition, around fifty concerts will be held at CC Can Verdaguer (Nou Barris District), CC Casa Orlandai (Sarrià – Sant Gervasi District), CC El Carmel (Horta – Guinardó District), CC El Sortidor (Sants – Montjuïc District), CC Josep Maria Trias i Peitx (Les Corts District), CC Navas (Sant Andreu District), CC Pere Pruna (Districte de Sarrià – Sant Gervasi), CC Sagrada Família (Districte de l’Eixample), CC Torre Llobeta (Districte de Nou Barris), CC Trinitat Vella (Districte de Sant Andreu), CC Vallvidrera – Vázquez Montalbán (Districte de Sarrià – Sant Gervasi) i CC Vil-la Florida (Districte de Sarrià – Sant Gervasi).
Four higher music schools and sixteen ensembles
For the second year running, Música Z includes seven ensembles from Conservatori Superior de Música Liceu, Taller de músics Escola Superior d’Estudis Musicals, Centre Superior de Música Jam Session and Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), offering an extensive programme with a variety of musical styles and languages.
Four commented auditions in each Civic Centre
Four groups will perform in each civic centre to showcase the talent of the participating schools. In the forty eight shows from 2025 it will be possible to listen to the proposals of Ángela Zarzuela and Martí Cerón and Cabo suelto, duo and trio of flamenco respectively, of the wind formation Casiopea Quintet, the jazz of DJEM Quartet, the alternative rock and electronic music of Drame, the unusual duo formed by the accordion and double bass of Duo Belarc, the traditional Mediterranean melodies and neo-folk of Juno Sibling, the vindication of the arrival of the Spanish Civil War by the trio Memòria perduda, the performance of the singer and violinist Ona Casacuberta, the string group Quintet de Falla, the themes of Sara Blasco, the vocal quintet Siena Ensemble, the group Sons de Terra, the acoustic duet Teilo, the trio Aurió and the quartet of versions with a gender perspective Venus Voice.
