Artistic fragments with a life of their own at La Capella
17/09/2024 - 12:00 h
The contemporary art space is hosting the exhibition ‘Entre esqueixos’.
In the same way as in the world of plants, a fragment of an artistic creation can become, in itself, a work of art. You can see this in the exhibition ‘Entre esqueixos’ (“Between Cuttings”) which, from 17th to 29th September, at La Capella on Carrer de l’Hospital, brings together creations by emerging artists.
The works that you can see on Carrer de l’Hospital have been created in the frame of the Master’s Degree in Artistic Production and Research – Art and Intermediate Contexts (ACI) – at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona. They are by Denis Abazi, Martí Aguilar, Karim Decaneva, Marta Fernández Jara, Joaquín Lozano Niño de Zepeda, Luis Renteria and Lorena Ruiz Pellicero. The exhibition is part of the Concèntric programme of the contemporary art centre on Carrer de l’Hospital, which explores relations with artistic spaces similar to La Capella, ranging from the University of Barcelona, as in this case, to Homesession and the Centro Párraga in Murcia.
All the artists that you will find in ‘Entre esqueixos’ present items that have one thing in common: they are or have been part of a research process that speaks of a well-known debate in the art world: the relationship between artistic production and research.
Read the fragments of text that accompany the pieces and learn about the research processes behind the exhibited artworks. You can see that many of the originals are born out of a fragment of a broader plot of meaning, an experience that, like replanting a sketch, produces a completely new life (or work of art).
If you want to see what artistic creation and the world of plants have in common, come and see “Entre esqueixos” at La Capella, but first check the website for all the information about the exhibition.
