An X-ray of the current state of design and creation in Barcelona

The DHub has invited a series of designers, artists and professionals from different creative fields to take part in an activity that explores ways of measuring time.

Is the current health of design, art and creation in today’s Barcelona good? To find out for sure, we might have to ask the protagonists of this scene, a series of professionals in audiovisual creation, cinema, architecture and contemporary art. There are a few of them (a total of twenty-eight) at the DHub 2024 Marathon, held on Saturday, 28 September (from 12 to 8 pm, uninterruptedly) at this venue in Plaça de les Glòries.

Free of charge, the Marató is an activity that is organised every year at the DHub and which, at the beginning of the season, proposes a collective reflection on the functioning of the stages and circuits involved in the artistic development of today’s city.  The most outstanding creators are taking part. Some of them are as powerful as Canada, the audiovisual production company that has filmed thousands of video clips for top artists and has also made the clip (and poster) for La Mercè 2024. With them, architects such as those who make up Arquitectura-G or Becoming – Architectures for a Planet in Transition, artistic collectives such as Tornen les Esquelles or pairs of contemporary creators as well known as Lolo y Sosaku, to name but a few.

All of them are the protagonists of a celebration and a collective reflection that leaves an image, as if it were an X-ray, of the current panorama of the design and creation scenes. In addition, each of these twenty-eight artists, designers, architects and creators in general will present their proposals for finding new ways of measuring time. How will they do it? Be sure to come if you want to know. This reflection will result in a manifesto summarising what has been discussed throughout the day.

Remember that you can come quietly and calmly with children, because that day, at DHub, there will be a babysitting service (maximum, five boys and girls) for kids between 3 and 14 years old.

If you want to get a taste of Barcelona’s creative scene, come to the DHub 2024 Marathon, but first check the website for all the information about the event.
