10th edition of the Barcelona Tap Dance Festival

The festival is organised by the association Tot pel Claqué (All For Tap) and takes place from the 12th to the 19th of May

Following the inauguration on Sunday the 12th, which included a demonstration by tap dance students from a variety of dance schools, the Barcelona Tap Dance Festival has begun its 10th edition.
 
On Friday the 17th, the Sala Ivanow will be hosting a cineforum dedicated to the life of ‘Honi’ Coles & Atkins, including film projections and debate. Following this there will be a session of improvised tap with live music. On Saturday the 18th, in the Mercat de les Flors, there will be a demonstration of staged choreographies by upcoming groups and companies in which non-professional dancers and companies will be given the opportunity to display their creations. The event is designed to promote creativity and the performances must not exceed 10 minutes.
 
The final gala event will be held in the Mercat de les Flors on Sunday the 19th beginning at 6 pm. The event will include demonstrations by professional dancers and companies from around the country as well as a performance by the American choreographer, dancer and professor, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards. From the 17th to the 19th, the renowned American dancer will be presenting master classes in the Escola Luthier in conjunction with local professionals Roser Font, Sharon Lavi, Anna Llombart and Rubén Pérez.
