14th International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, in the Filmoteca

From the 17th to the 26th of October the festival will combine vindication with cinematographic quality

The objective of the 14th International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, which will take place in the Filmoteca de Catalunya between the 17th and the 26th of October, is to both vindicate and offer reflections on sexual diversity with a programme in which same-sex relationships are approached with complete sincerity. This year’s festival is open to such diverse and often socially poignant subjects as the sexual harassment of adolescents, sexual relationships among the elderly, homophobia and gender violence among lesbian couples.

Among many other films, highlights of this edition include The Last Straight Man, by Mark Bessenger, about a young gay man who hasn’t ‘come out’ and is secretly in love with his best friend, who is heterosexual, Amar es Bendito (Blessed Love), by Liliana Paolinelli, an entertaining game of entanglement concerning a couple who have a moment of crisis brought about by the appearance of a third woman, or Maximiliano Pelosi’s A Gay Family, a reflection on the concept of family infused with touches of self-irony. In addition to these and other films, the festival will offer four sessions dedicated to short films.

Subsequent to the festival, on the 4th of November, the Casa Amèrica will offer a free double bill of films presented during the festival.
