The 2014 edition of the Festival of Science, Technology and Innovation comes to an end

The Research and Enterprise Day conclusions are presented in the Parliament of Catalonia

The closing event of this year’s Festival of Science, Technology and Innovation takes place today at 12.30, midday, when the Parliament of Catalonia will hear the results of an initiative that was originally launched with a twofold purpose: to encourage dialogue and collaboration between businesses and researchers, and to raise citizens’ awareness regarding the importance of research and technology transfer. A combined team of representatives from the business world and the scientific community was established at the beginning of the year in order to define the goals and content of the initiative and a conference entitled “Research and Enterprise Day: Collaborating for Competitiveness”, took place on the 5th of June.

As a result of the conference and the efforts of the combined team, a programme and roadmap of the tasks to be continued will be presented today in the Parliament.

The opening and closing addresses will be made by MP Núria de Gispert, Speaker of the Parliament of Catalonia, and the conclusions will be presented by Dr Tomás Molina, member of the Parliamentary Advisory Board on Science and Technology, and Dr Ricard Jiménez, Scientific Director at the ASCAMM Foundation.

Other experts participating in the event will include Dr Roberto Fernández, President of the Catalan Association of Public Universities and President of the Universitat de Lleida, Mr Pau Herrera, President of the Spanish Association of Executives, Dr Miquel A. Pericàs, Secretary General of the Catalan Association of Public Entities, Mr Antoni Castellà, Secretary of Universities and Research of the Catalan Government, and Mr Pere Torres, Secretary of Enterprise and Competitiveness of the Catalan Government.
