The 9th edition of the Modernist Fair in L’Eixample

From the 31st of May to the 2nd of June, the right part of the L’Eixample district will celebrate the Modernist Fair as part of the programme of activities for the district’s annual festival

Thanks to the support of roughly thirty organisations in the neighborhood and other collaborators – principally the local businessmen and traders association CorEixample – activities will proliferate on the streets of the L’Eixample district (right) in celebration of the ninth edition of the Modernist Fair.

The area between Calles Girona, Diputació, Roger de Llúria and the Avenida Diagonal will play host to the majority of the events programmed between the 31st of May and the 2nd of June. These events will include vintage cars on the district’s streets, the third edition of the Bicicletada Modernista (the Modernist Bike Ride), modernist pianola, and two somewhat comic representations of a bourgeois wedding from the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, among many others. Up until the 8th of June, the Mercat de la Concepció will be hosting an exhibition of reproductions of modernist posters and demonstrations of former trades can be seen in the modernist street market.

Apart from the activities strictly related to the ninth edition of the fair, L’Eixample (right) will also be hosting an intense programme of activities in celebration of the district’s annual festival, many of which are also related to the Modernist Fair. For example, there will be children’s workshops, street exhibitions, guided tours, concerts, open days in local centres and libraries, oral poetry representations, puppets, giants, and the Annual Festival Dinner, on Saturday night, where attendance in vintage costume is recommended.
