Acquaint yourself with Barcelona while jogging

The Footing Barcelona website offers guided jogging tours of the city

It goes without saying that jogging is a sport that is on the increase. It is cheap, beneficial to both physical and mental health and provides a stimulus for self-improvement. However, not everyone has what it takes to sweat it out on a regular basis. For those who need that extra bit of encouragement to slip on their running shoes and for those who would like to combine jogging with a little sightseeing, look no further than footingbarcelona.com.

The website, created by a couple of young sports enthusiasts, proposes jogging routes which incorporate guided tours of some of the city’s more interesting nooks and crannies. The tours are adapted to your jogging pace and, furthermore, take in notable sites, providing you with an introduction to the local history of the area. A number of routes have already been established, for example, the so-called ‘free route’, which leaves the plaza Catalunya and arrives at the seafront an hour later having taken in various parts of the Ciutat Vella. This tour takes place on Tuesdays at 7.30 pm and the fee is left to the discretion of the tourist-jogger once the tour is over.

There is also the possibility of discovering some of the districts with a little more personality, and routes requiring different levels of fitness have been planned through the Horta, Gràcia and Poble Sec-Montjuïc districts. Finally, footingbarcelona.com also leaves the door open to individual requirements and proposals. All information is freely available on their website.
