An 8th of March loaded with activities

The city’s districts and civic centres come together in a long list of activities to celebrate International Women’s Day.

As every year, the celebration of the 8th of March, International Women’s Day, is full of activities organised by the different districts and civic centres of the city. Routes, workshops, exhibitions, cinema, theatre, literature, talks and a long list that will last throughout the month of March. Several civic centres organise 7 itineraries to commemorate the day, such as the ‘MNAC: Art, dones, memòria i lluita’ (March 5) of the CC La Sagrera - La Barraca or ‘BarceloDona’ (March 6) of the CC Pere Pruna. These days you can also attend the end of the Muses 2021 creative women’s cycle at La Farinera del Clot, where the final of the women’s monologue competition (March 6) and the play La inauguració (March 7) will take place.

If you prefer art, the CC El Sortidor and the CC Vil·la Florida inaugurate on March 1 the exhibitions ‘Marcadas’ and ‘Vives, lliures i rebels!’, respectively. In the cinema area, you can attend the exhibition of short films at the Espai Avinyó, 8M. Mujeres, arte, resistencia, where you can see a selection of 5 pieces in an event presented by Remma Hammami, associate professor of anthropology at the Institute of Women’s Studies at Birzeit University, and Samira Badran, artist who was an active member of the Palestinian art scene in the late 1970s.

The different districts of the city are also added to the program, such as Les Corts, Sant Martí or Sant Andreu, where the exhibition ‘Indómitas’, a collective exhibition of women artists from around the world, opens on March 3 at the CC Baró de Viver.
