Africa Moment brings together the continent's most innovative artists

The Mercat de les Flors will host a large part of the exhibition programme, open to the public from 2 to 14 December.

After the first few days with an online programme, from 2 December the 6th Africa Moment International Living Arts Festival (AM22) (AM22) will be held in person and it will be possible to follow live and in person the proposals of twenty artists from ten different countries. The event, promoted by the association Africa Moment, founded by the Cameroonian artist and bioarchitect Angel Fulla, aims to generate spaces for reflection on African creation and its daily life in Europe and South America. The aim is to transform the performing arts towards diversity and transversal inclusion.

The Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona will host most of the shows, sharing the limelight with the Teatre Principal in Terrassa. Among the premieres will be Kolochi Baw, the latest work by the creator Aïda Colmenero Dïaz, recently awarded with the prestigious Pina Bausch scholarship, and the new work by the choreographer Oulouy, a production of Africa Moment. Marco Motta, Nemecio Berrio, Nadia Beugré, Carlos Martiel and Nora Chipaumire are some of the other artists present at the event, as well as musicians Ari Tavares, Betina Quest, Mu Mbana, Nesindano Namises and Daaraj Family. There will also be artistic residencies by Andrea Bonilla (Colombia), Ana Maira Favacho (Brazil) and Khadim Ndiaye (Senegal).

In parallel, El Graner will host the third edition of the professional training programme "Creation / Reflection / Body", a complementary initiative to traditional artistic training with a non-European focus. This year, five African and Afro-descendant students will receive scholarships to participate in the programme. Finally, this year a special programme for professional programmers will be launched, with the aim of improving the artistic circuit's knowledge of the creators who take part in the meeting.
