Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap”, in the Teatre Apolo

This classic by the Queen of Crime features eight characters trapped in a mansion with a murder to resolve

La Ratonera (The Mousetrap) is a theatrical murder mystery by Agatha Christie which has been performed uninterruptedly since its opening in London in 1952. With more than twenty-five thousand performances and ten million spectators, it is by far the longest-running play in the history of theatre, smashing all records associated with the genre.

Giles and Mollie Ralston are a young couple who run a guesthouse in Monkswell Manor in the outskirts of London. Guests Christopher Wren, Mrs Boyle, Miss Casewell and Major Metcalf are soon joined by a fifth arrival, Mr Paravicini and Detective Sergeant Trotter, who arrives to investigate the death of a woman in London, all the while suspecting that the murderer is one of those hiding out in Monkswell Manor. The eight characters, trapped by a snow storm, play out a series of accusations, suspicions and twists, all of which lead to a most unexpected finale.

The timeless classic has been adapted by Víctor Conde, who also directs, and stars Mariona Ribas, Ferran Carvajal and Aleix Rengel, among others. The play can be seen in the Teatre Apolo up until the 6th of April.
