The Alcools Festival is moving to Sala Beckett
The third edition of this contemporary poetry competition is scheduled to begin on 14 February
For its third annual edition, the Alcools Festival is leaving the La Seca-Espai Brossa where it began back in 2015, and moving to Sala Beckett. According to its organisers, with this change the competition can grow and find “its natural lair”. The festival was designed to “take contemporary poetry to the central stage, create top quality poetic spectacles and bear witness to the fact that Catalan poetry is currently living a good moment”. They also aim to “tighten the bonds between the worlds of poetry, music and drama and make poetry an everyday thing”.
The 2017 edition of is arriving with a bill heavy with important names: with Joan Margarit on 14 February, Roger Mas on 21 February, and on 27 February with Enric Casasses and Josep Pedrals. There will be four further recitals in March, with Jaume C. Pons Alorda on 1 March, Anna Gual and Pons Alorda on / March, Martí Sales and Núria Martínez Vernis on 24 March and Antònia Vicens, Joan Vigó and Lluís Calvo on 20 February. All of the recitals are scheduled to begin at 8pm.
With Andreu Gomila as director and stage direction by Jordi Oriol, the Alcools Festival is organised by the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes and Sala Beckett, with financial support from Fundació Carulla. Admission to each of the sessions costs €10, and a block ticket for all of the recitals is available for €25.
