Andrea Motis, Joan Chamorro and friends will bring the Mas i Mas Festival to a close

The concert, by what has come to be known as “La Gran Festa del Jazz”, will take place in the Palau de la Música on the 31st of August

While there are still concerts to be held before the ‘La Diada’ performance by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and the Orfeó Català Association on the 11th of September, the National Day of Catalonia, the Mas i Mas Festival has bestowed the honour of closing the concert on the evening of the 31st of August to Andrea Motis, Joan Chamorro and friends.

In recent years these two artists have become the most successful phenomenon on the jazz scene, bringing jazz to virtually all audiences and providing an additional trans-generational component to the music, to a large extent thanks to the charismatic youthfulness of Andrea Motis (Barcelona, 1995).

As we said, however, this concert will be much more than just another performance by the duet. Under the title La Gran Festa del Jazz (The Great Jazz Festival), the performance will unite around twenty additional musicians, among which it would be difficult to highlight just a few - Ignasi Terraza, Raynald Colom, David Mengual, Víctor de Diego, Fredrik Carlquist, Félix Rossy , Dave Mitchell...all of who are exponents of the past, present and future of ‘Made-in-Barcelona jazz. Reason aplenty, then, to suppose that the evening concert on the final day of August in the Palau de la Música will be an unsurpassable event.
