Guided tours of exhibitions at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies

They’re the best way to learn in depth about the shows Profound Certainty and I will make up a song and sing it in a theatre with night air above my head.

The Fundació Antoni Tàpies strives to disseminate the works not only of this Catalan artist but also of other creators who have set or are currently setting the direction of contemporary art. This is made clear in two exhibitions the centre is currently hosting, one featuring Tàpies and the other by the artist Hannah Collins. You can now enjoy these shows with a guided tour called Approximations, led by an expert on the topic. Profound Certainty  revives a show from 1992 which brings together some of the works that Antoni Tàpies made on the synthetic textile that covered the floor in his atelier, deploying his characteristic repertoire of images: crosses, glasses, self-portraits, bodies, skulls and bones, chairs, landscapes, letters and numbers. On the other hand, the exhibition I will make up a song and sing it in a theatre with night air above my head presents the photographs that Hannah Collins took about the figure of the Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy. Through snapshots, the architect’s creations surrender to the decline and ruin that threaten them.

The guided tours for both shows are held every Saturday in July and September at 5 pm at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies. You will spend an hour and 15 minutes walking through the museum learning about the most curious aspects of the exhibitions.

The tour is free of charge if you have a ticket to the museum, which costs 8 euros, and there is no need to reserve in advance. Complete information is available on the Foundation’s website.
