The latest trends in mobile apps for culture, tourism and social networking will be revealed at the Apps&Cultura Demo Party today, the 23rd of September, beginning at 6 pm. The event, which is free of charge and will be held in the Mobile World Centre

The latest trends in mobile apps for culture, tourism and social networking will be revealed at the Apps&Cultura Demo Party. today,  the 23rd of September, beginning at 6 pm. The event, which is free of charge and will be held in the Mobile World Centre, Barcelona, is an initiative of the Direcció de Creativitat i Innovació of the Institut de la Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB) and AppCircus and is designed to spread the mobile phone and creativity revolution throughout Barcelona and the rest of Europe.

Europeana Creative Challenge

First up, find out which of the European Creative Challenge finalists come away with the awards for best tourism and social networking apps. The moderator will be popular musician and performer, MENEO.

Networking

Next up there will be a break for a cold beer courtesy of Estrella Damm and some networking with the creators, designers, entrepreneurs and developers whose are setting the pace in the creativity, technology, mobility, innovation and business fields.

Talent and creativity

The talents behind culture and creativity apps ByHours, Ommwriter and Musguide will relate their experiences and the challenges they have faced in an effort to gain visibility and explain the formulas that have allowed them to attain their objectives.

New apps promoting culture in Barcelona

Following this, some of the aspiring prize-winning apps for the second edition of Apps&Cultura will present their mobile-phone-based projects designed to promote culture and the arts in Barcelona. The moderator for this second phase will be graduate in electronic art and digital design, Gina Tost, a journalist who focusses on technology, video games, business and culture for media organisations such as Catalunya Ràdio, TV3, the newspaper ARA, Radio Marca and Unidad Editorial.

Music by MENEO and his Gameboy

To round off the event, MENEO will have the crowd dancing to the music he creates using his Gameboy. Not to be missed!

The preliminary event programme is as follows:

6 – 6.05 pm – Welcome

6.05 – 7.10 pm – Europeana Creative Challenge: 6 5-minute pitches + 1 question per pitch

7.10 – 7.25 pm – Beer break

7.25 – 7.45 pm – 5 minute presentations of 3 ‘senior’ apps for the world of culture and tourism.

7.45 – 8.15 pm – 10 apps – 2 min pitches + 1 min Q&A

8.15 – 8.35 pm – MENEO show and Europeana awards ceremony

8.35 – 9.15 pm – Networking
