The aquatints of the genius in the Museu Picasso

This summer the Picasso Museum presents a selection of over thirty aquatints sugar that highlight the expressive potential and the creative genius of Picasso.
The aquatint is one of the main procedures or intaglio etching. This etching technique or indirectly incision corrosion on metal mordant was widely used by Picasso, specifically or as mixed media.
One of the variants is aquatinte sugar aquatint. In this technique sugar is mixed with gouache and ink or gum arabic, or other substances that dry quickly and are easily dissolved in water. With this mixture the drawn is done with a brush or pen on a previously resin-iron.
Picasso cultivated masterfully and became the main author of its variant, the sugar aquatint technique that he drove decisively and with whom he created some of his most important prints, since that allowed strokes more direct and, at the same time, delicate.
The iconography selected here brings together prints, motifs, themes and classical artistic genres, such as women, hug or landscapes. Proliferates also the subject of the painter and the model, which, in his work, becomes an art form.
