The artistic perceptions of Michelangelo Pistoletto

The Blueproject Foundation collects a large retrospective about the Italian artist and theorist of art, from November 13 to March 27, 2016

Il Salotto room of the Blueproject Foundation hosts since November 13 a personal and extensive exhibition on the works of Michelangelo Pistoletto, in a run of nearly forty years of prestigious career.

This selection of works starts in the mid-seventies and reaches to the present. Born in 1933 in Biella, Pistoletto spent his early career in explorations of the self-portrait. In the sixties he started working with his series Mirror Paintings, which gave him international renown and was the foundation of his subsequent artistic reflection. In the seventies, he was one of the pioneers of the art movement Arte Povera. From the nineties he initiated several projects, including the creation of Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto, which drives the relationship between art and various areas of society to promote a responsible transformation of society.

With his art, Pistoletto reflects on the perception of ourselves and the society to which we belong, through everyday objects like mirrors, that he uses as identification elements, in addition to turning them into works of art. In addition, the artist aims to achieve what he calls "Third Paradise", a stage in which humanity learns to harmonize technological advances with respect for nature.

To present the exhibition with a good celebration, on Friday November 13 the inauguration is accompanied by the Performance of Terzo Paradiso, at 18h at the Parc de la Ciutadella, and a lecture by Michelangelo Pistoletto himself, at 12h in the Auditorium the Escola Massana.
