“#ArtVeuiVot” in the Museum of the History of Catalonia (MHCAT)

The exhibition can be seen from the 8th of October to the 2nd of November and consists of pieces by artists from a variety of disciplines who are in favour of the right to decide

#ArtVeuiVot. Artistas pel dret a decidir (Artists for the right to decide) presents works by approximately eighty artists, creators and well-known faces from the world of culture who have decided to jointly manifest their stance at this significant moment in Catalan history. Among them we will find such illustrious names as Vicenç Altaió, Eduard Arranz-Bravo, Perejaume, Javier Mariscal, Fina Miralles, Enric Pladevall, Josep Pla-Narbona and Susana Solano.

Curated by Pilar Parcerisas and Ignasi Domènech, the multi-disciplinary exhibition includes pieces from the worlds of, for example, illustration, visual poetry, humour, conceptual art and graphics, among others. The common denominator of the exhibition, however, is the right to decide, though this may be expressed from any number of perspectives. Motifs such as the letter ‘V’ and ballot boxes are recurring themes, as are those appealing to the plurality and diversity of Catalonia.

All pieces are A3 size, the ideal format for illustrating the campaign and, on a curious note, the exhibition is the largest ever local campaign activity organised collectively by numerous civil society associations. On the one hand the objective of these associations is to implicate the art world in the promotion of the right to decide. On the other hand, the idea is to create a specific iconography dealing with the right to decide in such a way that all users can feel free to share the campaign images.

The exhibition #ArtVeuiVot. Artistes pel dret a decidir can be seen from the 8th of October to the 2nd of November in the Museum of the History of Catalonia (MHCAT). Entry is free and more information is available here.
