"Ayer no termina nunca" (Yesterday never ends), by Isabel Coixet, arrives at cinemas

The latest film by the Catalan film maker opens on the 26th of April

Known for films such as The Secret Life of Words, and Map of the Sounds of Tokyo, Isabel Coixet has returned with Yesterday Never Ends, and intimist drama starring Javier Cámara and Candela Peña, in which the two actors, the only ones in the film, face a situation that occurs in Barcelona in a hypothetical future.

The year is 2017 and the country remains crippled by the financial crisis. A couple meet in the Catalan capital after a period of five years without seeing each other and during which both of them have had to overcome difficult circumstances. Five years previously the couple separated after losing a child due to hospital negligence, and just when they think the past is no longer relevant, it returns to haunt them.

With this plot, the film attempts to provide a current perspective on the economic crisis from the point of view of two damaged people. Emotionally sensitive and intense, the film, above all, is notable for the convincing dialogs and the performances of the two actors. Yesterday Never Ends has been selected to open the Malaga Film Festival, and received positive reviews at the most recent edition of the Berlin International Film festival.
