B-anime is bringing anime to Barcelona’s screens

Disseny Hub and Biblioteca El Clot scheduled to host this event on 14 May

Animated films are growing more and more popular and Japanese animated films were pioneers in opening up the market for this type of culture. The B-anime Festival looks to those sources for inspiration, with the aim of reaching a public aged 13 to 25, though logically people of all ages are welcome to attend.

This festival looks to the more than 50 new animated films that hit Japanese screens every year, though only a small percentage reaches western screens. This festival was created for the followers of the genre and, as well as screenings, features workshops and other activities for anime fans.

On the 14th of May, the main action in the B-anime Festival is scheduled to take place in two venues: Disseny Hub Barcelona and Biblioteca el Clot – Josep Benet. Two simultaneous workshops are set to take place at 5.30pm, the first one devoted to character design led by Marian Companys, while the second one will be led by Hiroshi Tsunoda, a Japanese designer who has lived in Barcelona since the year 2000.  The day will finish with the screening of the film Miss Hokusai at 7pm.
