6 successful films of the 1990s and 2000s with our city as main location form this film series.

Barcelona has been the location of many films throughout history, but it hasn’t been until recent years that some of the most popular productions have been shot here. You can see it in the Centre Cívic Navas film series called “Barcelona, una ciutat de rodatge”, in which some of these films will be screened.

The first one, on January 3rd at 19 h, is “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”, the movie that Woody Allen shot in our city in 2008, a comedy-drama starring Javier Bardem, who plays a painter, Penélope Cruz, his ex wife, and Scarlett Johansson, an American girl interested in him.

On 17th also at 19 h you will be able to watch again “Una casa de locos” (2002), which depicts the Barcelona Erasmus of Xavier, a French student who shares an apartment with students from different European countries.

In February you will also have two films shot in the capital of Catalonia: the first one, on 7th at 19 h, is the 2006 adaptation of the well-known literary work by Patrick Süskind “El perfume: historia de un asesino”, set shortly before French Revolution and with a smell specialist. After that, on 21st, “La Tabla de Flandes” (1994) will be screened as another film adaptation of a literary work, this time of the book of the same name by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, about an art piece and its connection to the 15th century.

The series will end in March with two more films: on 14th at 19 h comes “A la ciutat”, an ensemble film of 2003 directed by Cesc Gay revolving around a lot of characters connected by their lies, secrets, infidelities and forbidden relationships. Finally on March 28th you will be able to watch “Todo sobre mi madre” (1999), a drama about a single mother totally devoted to her son which marked the first time that Pedro Almodóvar left Madrid in order to shoot in Barcelona.
