Barcelona wishing to bring both entertainment and tourism to its residents

Volunteers test the web service Smart City Guide from FOKUS

Last Friday 28th March in Palacio de la Virreina, the i2CAT Foundation in collaboration with the Director of Creativity and Innovation at the Barcelona City Council Institute of Culture performed an experiment with volunteers to test the Smart City web service developed by FOKUS. This is a web service that offers entertainment as well as tourism to residents through personalised recommendations to users regarding attractions and events related to culture, leisure, sport, etc based on their preferences.

In a two hour session the 20 participants were able to experience the service in real situations through their mobile phone or tablet.

This experiment was conducted by the i2CAT Foundation in collaboration with FOKUS and BarcelonaLab, under the Fi-Content2 project (Future internet media for large scale CONTENT experimentation 2) aiming to develop and experiment with open platforms in three areas: Social Connected TV, Smart City Services, i Pervasive game.
