Barcelona’s magic rituals

Next Sunday, take a tour of some if the city’s best kept secrets

While it can probably be said of most places, the truth is that not all that is interesting in this city is visible, a lot remains hidden, and the proposed route for next Sunday, the 3rd, aims to reveal some of its more extravagant secrets to the partakers. The idea is to provide a historical perspective on magic rituals, illusionists, witches, ceremonies and cults, most of them quite unusual. The objective of the route, which begins at the intersection of Av Portal de l’Àngel and carrer Fontanella, is to discover some of the rituals practised by the Templars, Masons and Jews of the Call district.

Though it’s not wise to reveal more than one should, there’s no harm in telling you that one of the epicentres of the route is the Sants Just i Pastor basilica. The temple, which just last June was declared a National Cultural Heritage Monument, is an invaluable source of mysteries. All in all, an ideal way to spend a day for those who think they know all there is to know about Barcelona.

The organisation, furthermore, offers the possibility of lunch after the tour. For more information, or to register, visit the Cultura i Oci Barcelona website.
