BccN enters its sixth edition

From the 6th to the 10th of May the world’s first Creative Commons film festival will offer, free of charge, films such as “The Internet’s Own Boy”, “The Seams of the Skin”, and “Un lloc on caure mort”

From the 6th to the 10th of May the BccN Creative Commons Film Festival will celebrate its sixth edition. A flagship for license-free audio-visual culture and featuring alternatives to the traditional copyright paradigm, this year’s festival focusses on the overcoming of personal, social and organisational limitations.

The inaugural session, which will be held in the Hall of the CCCB, will consists of two films, The Internet’s Own Boy, which was screened in the latest Sundance festival and focusses on the life of the young computer programming prodigy and internet activism pioneer Aaron Schwarz when he is accused of federal offences - the tragically unbelievable event that paved the way for our understanding of subsequent cases such as those of Edward Snowden and Chelsea Manning. The second film, Yes, We Fuck! focusses on the sexuality of persons with functional diversity (disability).

On the 7th the festival will move to the Sepia Germinates with the screening of Un lloc on caure mort (Oh Candid: you won’t stop till you get hurt) the winning documentary in the latest edition of the In-Edit Festival and La más macabra de las vidas (The most macabre of lives). From Friday the 8th onwards the festival will take place in the MACBA Auditorium and feature films such as The Seams of the Skin, Transformer, the Premake, Mirades sense sostre, Recetas municipales and Sí se puede.

The programme will be complemented with numerous open-air screenings, debates and workshops and, in addition, the Made in Barcelona category will present a series of awards to new original works made with free licenses.
