Is "Big Data" part of my future?

The next Scientific Coffee of the Center for Genomic Regulation deals with systems that manipulate large data sets (big data)

Big Data is the term for a collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand database management tools or traditional data processing applications.

Which technology is used to gather the vast amount of data produced by humans? Are we going to use them in our daily life? Which are the technical, budgetary, legislative limits of this technology?

On Wednesday March 19, 2014 at 19 pm we will address these and other questions in a talk to be held in the Sala de la Caritat of the National Library of Catalonia (Hospital 56, Barcelona). Toni Gabaldon, Alejandro Gimenez and Rodny Hernandez Coello, experts in bioinformatics and data management, will be responsible for initiating an open debate on the "big data" universe.

Free admission, limited capacity.
