El Born is remembering the Holocaust victims

The venue will hold a conference led by writer Vicente Sánchez-Biosca, the show 'Vives!' and a post-function colloquium.

El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria is celebrating the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust with two activities.

The lecture La mort als ulls, about the images recorded in May 1942 in the Warsaw ghetto on the orders of the Nazi Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels, will be held on 18 January at 6 p.m. The recordings were made before the deportation process of the inhabitants and were never edited. This is the subject of a chapter in the book La muerte en los ojos. Qué perpetran las imágenes de su perpetrador, which its author, Vicente Sánchez-Biosca, will develop on this talk.

In addition, on January 21 and 23, El Born CCM will also host the show Vives!, a multidisciplinary artistic project in homage to the women deported to concentration camps and victims of Nazism. The montage is inspired by figures of the likes of Neus Català and Conxita Grangé, as well as the testimony of many survivors of different origins and conditions, who offer a corpus of memory from the body and the word. Their voices bring up exile, deportation, life in the caps, suffering, solidarity, dignity, the death of comrades and liberation. Their testimonies also speak of their later lives and earlier experience as resisters and fighters against fascism. In addition, they note the persistent effort to preserve the memory and the specificity of the female experience, which was often hidden.

The premiere of Vives! at El Born CCM will be accompanied by a post-show colloquium moderated by the writer Marta Marín-Dòmine, with the participation of the director of the show, Montse Colomé, its creators and performers Gisela Vicenç and Montse Canals, and the psychologist specialised in gender violence and gender perspective Alba Alfageme.

Activities are free, but seating is limited. The premier on January 21 is already full. However, you can still book your ticket for January 18 through this link and for January 23 here.
