Collide Award 2020

Call for entries for the 2020 Collide Award

The prize invites artists of any discipline to carry out a three-month residency at CERN (Geneva) and at the Hangar creation factory (Barcelona).

Barcelona and CERN announce a new international call for entries for the Collide Award, which for the second year awards a combined residency at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN in Geneva) and at a creation factory in Barcelona. The two residences are the result of the alliance established between CERN, the Institute of Culture of Barcelona and Barcelona City Council from 2019 to 2021, also within the framework of one of the strategic axes of the Barcelona Science Plan.

The Collide Prize invites artists and groups to develop a project proposal with the aforementioned combined residency in Geneva and Barcelona. This year, the stay in Barcelona will take place at the Hangar creation factory, Centre for Production and Research in the Visual Arts.

Applications can be submitted from October 27 to December 7. Applicants must combine a description of their artistic practices and interests with their perception of science and how CERN deals with the major issues surrounding the study of the universe.

After a period of deliberation by a jury composed of representatives of science and culture, the person or group receiving the prize will be able to carry out a three-month artistic residency in 2021 to develop their project and innovate in their discipline. This residency will be divided into two stays, one that will last two months at CERN in Geneva, where it will be possible to work in contact with professionals in the field of particle physics, engineering, information technologies and the world of the laboratory, and another that will last one month at the Hangar creation factory in Barcelona, with the aim of extending and contextualizing their research through the city's artistic and scientific network.

Call for entries, application form and more information in Barcelona Ciència’s website.
