“Camille redouble” (Camille Rewinds), in the Verdi cinemas

The film by Noémie Lvovsky inaugurates the series Cinema Francès Inèdit

With the collaboration of, among others, the Institut Francès, the Verdi cinemas in Barcelona have initiated and series of screenings of French films which, for one reason or another, have not been shown in commercial cinemas in Catalonia. Under the title Cinema Francès Inèdit, the series will include some of the best received, most lauded and most interesting recent productions to emerge from our neighbouring country.

The series will include one screening per month and will begin on Thursday the 23rd of January at 8.30 pm with Camille redouble, by Noémie Lvovsky, who also stars in the film. Lvovsky is a well-known face in French cinema and has appeared in other recent productions which have been fortunate enough to have been distributed in our country such as House of Tolerance, Le Skylab and Farewell, My Queen.

The film tells the story of Camille, a forty-year-old alcoholic actress in the process of divorce who, one New Year’s Eve, returns suddenly to her adolescence. During her 16th birthday three events turn her world upside down: she meets the love of her life, becomes pregnant with her only daughter, and her mother dies.

Camille redouble was presented at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated in 13 categories at the César Awards presented by the French Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques, among them, best film, direction, screenplay and performances. The screening in the cinemas Verdi will be attended by the film’s principal actor, Samir Guesmi.
