The CCCB announces a competition of short films

Films may be presented up until the 30th of May and should deal with emigration of people who travel to foreign countries in search of work

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, and among other activities, the CCCB has organised an open competition for short films entitled Fora de casa (Away from home). The pieces presented should be of a maximum of 15 minutes and deal with the subject of emigration of people who travel to other countries in search of the jobs they cannot find in their own country.

The short films entered in the competition may be international in scope and may include a wide range of genres (fiction, documentary, video-clip, animation, experimental...) and may approach the subject from a wide range of perspectives: the voyage, the arrival at the destination country, the experience of searching for work or a place to live, social integration, cultural differences, contact with family and friends, new discoveries and opportunities, etc.

From all the entries, the CCCB will select twenty films which will be posted on their website and opened to voting by the general public. The nine most-voted short films will be shown during this year’s edition of Gandules, the open-air film festival organised by the centre every August.

Finally, a qualified jury will select the best piece from the nine finalists and the winning film will be awarded a prize of 500 euros. The closing date for competition entries is the 30th of May.
