Are you ready to greet the Year of the Pig?

The Chinese New Year is set to be celebrated in Barcelona with parades, performances and a culture and food fair.

Some 20,000 citizens of Barcelona can trace their roots back to China, and the Chinese New Year, which takes place at the beginning of February and has become one of the most popular events on the city’s calendar, is a wonderful opportunity to share their culture and traditions. According to the traditional calendar we will be entering the year 4717, which, following the cyclical scheme of the Chinese zodiac, is the Year of the Pig. The celebrations will include a parade, a series of performances and a food fair. To make all of that happen, over 1,500 people from more than 60 entities will lend a hand in the organization.

The celebrations are scheduled for 2 February and the parade will set out from Estació del Nord park at 11.30 am and head for Arc de Triomf. Throughout the day there will be shows and a gastronomic and cultural fair in Passeig Lluís Companys.
