Fellini, one of the greatest figures of cinema
The Born CCM and the Instituto Italiano di Cultura are organizing the exhibition 'El centenari. Fellini al món', which will be available until January 2022.
This year, for the centenary celebration of cinematographer Federico Fellini (1920-2020), the Born Centre Cultural i Memòria (El Born CCM) is hosting the exhibition El centenari. Fellini al món, dedicated to his figure. Co-organized by the Instituto Italiano di Cultura in Barcelona and the Born CCM, the exhibition provides an insight into the author's dreamlike world and his most intimate side – beyond his filmography. Fellini is a prominent international figure in the history of cinema and has left a legacy that is part of the collective memory. Through the cinematographic language, he helped position Italy in the world and became a leading figure in the European culture in the second half of the 20th century. Curated by Vicenzo Mollica, Alessandro Nicosia and Francesca Fabbri Fellini, this exhibition, which was previously available in other cities including Moscow, Sao Paulo, Vilnius and Tirana, can be seen in Barcelona from October 1 to January 9, 2022.
The sample gathers a selection of more than 80 pictures from shootings and his private life, original posters of his movies, scripts, letters, props, costumes, and more. The exhibition also features more than 50 of his drawings, which reveal his lifelong passion for drawing. Critical and satirical, they have a style of their own that has evolved with him. Parallel to the exhibition, they have organized an activity programme, which includes a series of concerts in tribute to the composer Nino Rota, a regular collaborator of Fellini; a talk on the influence of Dante Alighieri over the filmmaker, and a proposal to reflect on gender stereotypes based on his work, among others.
Tickets for the exhibition are free. Visit it at the Sala Castellví at the Born CCM. For further information, check the Born CCM's website.
