‘Aviva’ is the featured film of the 2020 edition of Choreoscope

Choreoscope: film and dance

The International Dance Film Festival will be held virtually with an in-site session in the Filmoteca.

Once again, it's time for the Choreoscope, Barcelona International Dance Film Festival. The 2020 edition has been decided to be celebrated online due to the current health situation, and it is thanks to the platform FilmIn that you can enjoy the festival from home, from the 14th to 28th of September. This year's featured film is Aviva (2020), by Boaz Yakin, a piece full of love and sensuality. Other highlighted titles are Young Men (2016) and Deluxe (2020), both by Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, and Gisele (2018) from Akram Khan. In addition, this year's special selection is dedicated to the choreographer Tuixén Benet, with films like Lazarus or Taft.

The festival has divided the Official Selection into different categories: you will find, for example, the section ‘Almas Rebeldes’ with stories about the migration, violence or racism; in 'Trotamundos' you will find titles international shows that show different faces of dance; ‘Dibujando la danza’ presents projects where dance is mixed with animation and other types of experimental formats; and, finally, the ‘Xerinola’ section where they group Catalan and Spanish pieces to bring you closer to the local imaginary.

Choreoscope will also do two in-site sessions at the Filmoteca de Catalunya on September 26th, where you can watch The Heart Dances (2018) at 6 p.m., and a double session with the short Farewell (2014) and the film The Euphoria of Being (2019). You can buy the ticket here.
