‘Maria (y los demás)’

A rundown of the last 25 years at ESCAC

The Filmoteca will be screening the best feature-length and short films from the talented folk who have trained at this film school.

The Catalan School of Cinema and Audio-visual Studies, commonly known as ESCAC, is one of the top-ranking schools in its field in our country. This shows through in the huge list of professionals working in film and television that studied in their classrooms and have ended up making a name for themselves both nationally and internationally. The centre is celebrating its 25th anniversary, having opened in 1994, and they’ll be celebrating it with their nearest and dearest. However, this coming January, the Filmoteca de Catalunya will be helping them celebrate with a wide range of films that the best-known ESCAC alumni have made. Over the course of two months, you’ll have the chance to see the best feature-length and short films by Javier Ruiz Caldera, Mar Coll, Dani de la Orden, Patricia Font, Kike Maíllo, Alejandro Marzoa, Guillem Morales, Àlex Pastor, Sergi Pérez, Nely Reguera and Elena Trapé. What’s more, many of them will be there at the screening to present the sessions and discuss their work.

The film series “ESCAC 25 anys” will be on every Thursday in January and February at 5 pm, except on 2 January, when the screening will be on the following day at 7:30 pm. All of the screening will be at the Filmoteca de Catalunya. This is a really good chance for film lovers to see some locally made films that have won numerous awards, many of which didn’t hit the commercial scene.

Tickets for the screening will have the normal price at the centre, which is €4. You can get yours on the Filmoteca de Catalunya website.
