Putin’s Witnesses

Putin’s Witnesses, the first Documental del Mes of 2020

A film by Vitaly Mansky that tells the story of how the current Russian president came into power and how he’s managed to hold on to it for so long.

Documental del Mes always surprises audiences with their selections, but they never disappoint. It would appear that they’re set to follow along the same lines in 2020, since the first film they'll be screening looks great. The documentary in question is Putin’s Witnesses, a film by Vitaly Mansky that explores Vladimir Putin’s rise to power and how he has become one of the most influential and controversial politicians in the world. To do this, he brought in high-level interviewees, such as the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, the first president of Russia, Boris Yeltsin and even Putin himself. These conversations go with reams and reams of archive material, which will show the real causes and consequences of Operation Successor, the political plot that got the current leader into power. Because of this, the documentary gives you a first-hand look into the life of one of the most controversial and powerful people in the world.

As always, you can see the Documental del Mes on many occasions in January, in different spaces around Barcelona. On the 9th at Cinemes Girona, the 20th at Auditori de Sant Martí, the 19th and the 27th at Teatre de Sarrià, the 21st at Casa Elizalde, 22nd at Biblioteca Esquerra de l’Eixample – Agustí Centelles, the 23rd at Centre Cívic Fort Pienc and the 28th at Biblioteca de Vilapicina i la Torre Llobeta.
