Cinema Symphony Orchestra

The Cinema Symphony Orchestra pays tribute to Hollywood’s finest

The orchestra, which is specialised in film music, will perform a set of classic soundtracks at Barcelona’s Palau de la Música

The Cinema Symphony Orchestra defines itself as “Spain’s first film music orchestra”, and it’s true that the formation has a solid career behind it that make sit worthy of the title. Its mission has always been the same: to work like a well-oiled machine that, instead of playing symphonies, carries out on-going tours with programmes of film music. Soundtracks tend to be popular symphonic style music, though auditoriums seldom have much time for them. With initiatives like the Cinema Symphony Orchestra, this unfair treatment is coming to an end. And now, we have this special concert at Palau de la Música.

The programme is certainly attractive. In the first part we will hear the theme music from films and series of films like the James Bond and Ghostbusters franchises, “In Search of the Lost Ark”, “Kill Bill” and “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. In the second part, the orchestra will interpret more film music hits from films like “Conan the Barbarian”, “Back to the Future”, “Glasdiator”, “Rocky” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”. You won’t be able to say that this music is too difficult or little-known or too long. The recent success of initiatives such as the screening of films with live musical accompaniment at the Auditori serves to prove that the demand for symphonic film music exists.

So now you have the chance to enjoy film music hits in the incomparable setting of the Palau de la Música. And tickets are already available for purchase here.
