Classical music in Les Corts

Once again, the Josep M. Trias i Peitx civic centre is to host a cycle of classical music concerts featuring vocal and violin recitals by recognised artists.

The Classical Music in Les Corts Cycle is one of the top classical music events in the Barcelona year. This modest, small-format cycle, which is about to celebrate its 18th edition, offers a showcase for young performers at Centre Cívic Josep M. Trias i Peitx, with concerts every other Sunday in a range of styles that runs from 20th century Catalan composers and gypsy melodies to opera recitals and chamber music. All of these concerts begin at 6pm and ticket prices are reasonable, providing an opportunity to explore classical music in an intimate setting.

The cycle will begin on 22 October with a programme of contemporary Catalan classical music interpreted by Maria Teresa Garrigosa (soprano) and Carme Talleda (piano), featuring pieces by women composers. Renaissance pieces are next on the menu on 5 November with Teresa Rojas, Violeta Paulina Sánchez and Raúl Sandín. On 19 November we can hear gypsy airs by violinist Ala Voronkova accompanied on the guitar by Sergi Vicente. The two recitals scheduled for December include one for saxaphone and piano with pieces by Franck, Prokófiev and Bartok (3 December) and a final concert on 17 December with arias and oratories written by Rossini and Händel.
