The Esmuc Jazz Project delves into 'The Garden of Earthly Delights'
The group offers its annual concert at the Auditori, this time inspired by the painting of the Dutch painter Bosch.
It has become a tradition for the Esmuc Jazz Project to give a concert at L'Auditori in the second half of January. This year it will be on 20 January at 8 pm, and on this occasion the group, with musical direction by Joan Díaz, Joan Monné, Joan Sanmartí, Francesc Capella and Lluís Vidal, has prepared an evening entitled Inside the Picture. Sound Scenes from the Garden of Earthly Delights. It will be, they explain, the first occasion on which they will combine music with painting and the visual arts, taking as a reference the painting by the Dutch painter of the Flemish school Bosch called The Garden of Earthly Delights.
It is a commitment to multidisciplinarity, and will provide notes and chords to four video creations based on cut-outs from Bosch's painting. Each of the works will have a specific theme that will give coherence to the choice of images and the music that accompanies them: Hell, Bestiary, Landscapes and Choreographies. The aim is for the visual power of Bosch's creation to be amplified by the descriptive power of the music, composed for the occasion.
The Esmuc Jazz Project is a stable orchestral ensemble founded in 2015 in the Jazz and Modern Music Department of the ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya). Its aim is to cultivate a contemporary musical aesthetic, fusing elements from various 20th century traditions, such as jazz, rock, contemporary, chamber or symphonic music, ethnic music... In the concert at L'Auditori, the ensemble will be made up of Jazz and Modern Music students, and there will also be Classical and Contemporary instruments, as well as Cobla and Early Music.
