Valencian duet Laura Esparza and Carlos Esteban

Concerts to promote music and traditional Catalan music at Centre Artesà Tradicionàrius

Valencian duet Laura Esparza and Carlos Esteban, project Cor País Meu and Mallorcan singer and songwriter Biel Majoral are the leads of the upcoming concerts.

The Center Artesà Tradicionàrius (CAT), a public facility of the Barcelona City Council managed by the TRAM Cultural Association for the promotion of traditional Catalan music and culture, does not stop. It has so far organized three concerts for the coming months of May and June at its headquarters at Anne Frank square.

To kick off May, the winners of the contest Sons de la Mediterània 2020, Laura Esparza (voice) and Carlos Esteban (multi-instrument), are presenting their first album, Mare Natura. Founded in 2019, the duet will share their intimate and personal style, combining touches of electronic and traditional melodies, on Sunday, 9th of May at 7 pm. Tickets can be bought here.

On Saturday, 22nd of May at 8 pm, it is the turn for music and reading project Cor País Meu. 30 singers will perform Exili, un reconeixement al coratge i la llibertat, staging popular everyday songs that give testimony of the exodus of thousands of people before, during and after the Spanish Civil War with Laia Carreras as the narrator. Tickets are available at the following link.

The last concert currently scheduled by the Center Artesà Tradicionàrius is that of singer-songwriter, philologist and activist Biel Majoral (artistic name of Gabriel Oliver, Algaida, Mallorca 1950), who will present his fourth and last solo work — “Arasíquesí” — a committed piece where he recovers popular lyrics and traditional songs. Tickets for the event, taking place on Friday, 11th of June at 8 pm, are available here.
