A conversation concerning "Nit de Musicals" in the Vapor Vell Library

On the 8th of July the event will finalise the series of chats concerning Grec Festival performances and feature some of their protagonists

Many artistic works, be they musical, cinematographic, literary or dramatized, enjoy an element of surprise. In many cases, however, prior revelation on some level does not go amiss. With this in mind, an in an attempt to initiate the dissemination of upcoming events, the library organisation Biblioteques de Barcelona will offer a series of chats in which the protagonists of some of the performances in the Grec Festival can speak to the general public about their productions.

On the 8th of July the Biblioteca Vapor Vell in the Sants district will host a discussion on Nit de Musicals: Una nit a Broadway featuring the director of the production, Elisenda Roca, the musical director, Andreu Gallent and one of the stars of the performance, Mercè Martínez. Following the success of the first edition, which last year was dedicated to the composer Abert Guinovart, Nit de Musicals (Musical Night) returns to the Teatre Grec in Montjuïc.

On this occasion Una nit a Broadway (A Night on Broadway) presents a sophisticated but nonetheless popular repertoire that includes classical Broadway pieces from shows such as Gershwin's Strike up the Band and the more recent Mel Brooks production The Producers as well as excerpts from West Side Story, The Phantom of the Opera and My Fair Lady. The repertoire will be interpreted by singers the likes of Àngels Gonyalons, Anna Moliner, Daniel Anglès, Elena Gadel, Ivan Labanda, Mercè Arànega, Mercè Martínez and Mone Teruel and will be accompanied by the Barcelona Municipal Band under the direction of maestro Salvador Brotons.
