Somatic distillation with Malén Iturri
The artist is presenting the performative action Crura at the Santa Mònica.
As part of Santa Monica's "Sound and Body Wednesdays", on 20 July at 7 p.m., artist and researcher Malén Iturri will present the performative action Crura, defined as "a piece of somatic distillation that develops in an exploration of movement, voice and sound". The organisation also describes the proposal as "spongy temporality that softens everything underneath the tongue, the underneath of the underneath from and towards a primitive back [digestion - evacuation - swallowing]. Finding resistance in slowness and dark humidities, 'body' more than human in a relational state of very dense fluidity".
Iturri, who is finishing her certified training in Somatic Movement Education (SME) and Infant Developmental Movement Education (IDME) of Body-Mind Centering® with Atlas Movement, works with a hybrid artistic practice and collaborates in different improvisation and performance projects. Her research revolves around somatic practice, feminist and queer thought, the study of movement and stage creation. She also delves into sonic experimentation and electronic music composition with the Mímbere project. Iturri is a graduate in Fine Arts from the Universitat Politècnica de València and holds a Master's degree in Scenic Practice and Visual Culture (UCLM-ARTEA-MNCARS) in Madrid and a Master's degree in Cultural and Artistic Studies with Feminist and Queer Perspectives [MUECA] from the UMH.
The event will take place in the Sala Bar of the Santa Mònica and is free but with limited capacity. You can find more information at this link.
